Welcome to the official website for Marcell Marias. Marcell is a Seattle-based artist, designer, music producer and performer working with a variety of media including music, sound, video, light and sculpture. His recent collaborations with Grammy-Nominated artists Henta and David Miles Huber have resulted in credits on their albums “Laserium for the Soul” and “Colabs”, respectively. He produced Henta’s latest video for her song “Vision of Truth” and is instrumental in live visuals production for his and Henta’s live shows.
Marcell has several album releases and film/video soundtrack credits. His musical style ranges from ambient and downtempo, to house, breaks and drum & bass, often performing shows in surround sound with synchronized visuals. This desire to envelop the audience in sound and light comes from Marcell’s interest in music and video ever since the mid 80s.
Throughout many years of performing both solo and in bands, Marcell has realized the importance and potential of visual imagery during a live show. Having gained experience from being a part of the visuals support for Meat Beat Manifesto’s 1996 east coast tour, the power of visuals was evident. Coldcut are another example and great influence, both for their socio-political stances and their great visual shows.
Marcell emigrated to the US in 1976 from Hungary and has traveled extensively, and has been active in several diverse music scenes and creative culture in general. He graduated from the State University of New York with a Sociology and Video degree and has also received a certificate of Audio Production from the University of Washington. His current studies and interests involve electric vehicles, where he hopes to convert a car into an electric drive that has no emissions.
In addition to the deep involvement in music, Marcell also designs websites and builds sculptures. Lunaglow is his sculpture company dedicated to sustainable and unique modern sculpture. He has exhibited all over Seattle.
