Snowflake Mapping Project under way!
by Marcell on Nov.21, 2011, under New Music

This is a screenshot from video that will be mapped onto a sculpture consisting of 13 snowflakes in a symmetrical hexagonal array. It will be an interactive A/V installation intended for use by the public. The user will be able to trigger video and music clips from a 64-button MIDI controller and experience the resulting projections and sound. Oh what fun!

by Marcell on Jan.08, 2011, under New Music
If you are reading this because you found the “Positive Energy Revolution” CD somewhere across America, then please comment below, stating where you found it and what you think about the CD and the project.
This project entails my trek across America, leaving CDs in various places with a note asking anyone who finds it to listen, and if they like it, to copy it for themselves, passing the original on to another person who may like it. This way the music will hopefully spread across the US in an interesting way, where a story about the journey may emerge.
With Gratitude,
Marcell Marias

1 Comment more...Positive Energy Revolution Grammy-eligible
by Marcell on Oct.14, 2010, under New Music
I’m very happy to announce that my new album, Positive Energy Revolution, is now Grammy-eligible in the Dance category. It made it onto a list of 71 other albums which will be voted on by Grammy members to obtain the top 5.
Also, the song “Positive Energy Revolution”, which has vox by Henta, made it to the Best Dance/Electronic Recording category.
It’s great that even independent artists have the chance, without proper label support (I have my own label and publishing), to become Grammy-eligible. All independent artists have to persevere, work hard, and be true to our art. Eventually people will notice, in my case at least, that what matters is the sharing of positive energy, love, peace, eco-consciousness, and compassion.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Marcell Marias Releases Latest Album, Positive Energy RevolutionSeattle, WA, Sept. 15, 2010 – Seattle-based electronic musician Marcell Marias has released his latest album, Positive Energy Revolution, on Vortexya, a label dedicated to visual electronic music. Available immediately for download at major online retailers iTunes, Amazon MP3 and others, this release is a diverse musical journey through inner and outer space, with elevating arpeggios, atmospheric pads and driving polyrhythms, with a deep dose of grounding bass frequencies. It meanders in and out of House, Breakbeat, Trance and Drum & Bass, pushing forward positive energy. This is Marcell’s 4th album and reflects eco-conscious messages calling for action to save our beautiful planet. It features vocals from Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Henta. His first performance of new songs from this release will be at a Burners Without Borders benefit on Sat. Sept. 18, 2010 at the Tiger Lounge in Georgetown, Seattle. He will be joined by Henta on vocals. Marcell Marias is a Hungarian-born Seattle resident composing and performing visual electronic music. He has several movie soundtrack and sound design credits. His performances have featured immersive visuals coupled with surround sound. He collaborates with Henta, a UK singer/songwriter and David Miles Huber, author and surround sound evangelist. - END - |
Marcell Marias produces and performs as Marias in many styles of electronic music: Ambient, Downtempo, House, Breakbeat, and Drum & Bass. He’s been involved in two Grammy-Nominated projects recently: David Miles Huber’s “Colabs” album as a co-writer on one of the tracks and Henta’s “Laserium for the Soul” CD as a co-producer. He is also soundtrack composer and a sound designer with several film and video credits and strives to make cinematic/visual music. He has recently become the first artist to be featured on Vortexya, a website for Modern Visual Music.
This Nimbit player features Cosmic Tongue, the latest release from Marias. Cosmic Tongue is a musical translation of the universal language that whispers into our subconscious ears. The results take shape as ethereal soundwaves, galloping rhythms, fluttering strings and turbulent currents. This is liquid, crystalline, vaporous and intoxicating music for thirsty heads.
You can download this release, get on the mailing list, or embed the player in to any web page using the buttons at the top of the player. Turn it up by clicking on the speaker icon. Enjoy!
My other remixes include Tiesto’s “Knock You Out” for Beatport’s remix contest, and Robert Miles’ “Paths” remix contest.

New Energy
by Marcell on Jul.05, 2010, under New Music
New Energy by marias
This was written in response to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. It’s a call to make way for a new energy revolution where solar, wind, tidal and wave power are harnessed to run our electric lives and biofuels and electric cars are used to transport us.
The song has no instruments at all. Every sound is my voice with Ableton Live effects, and it’s mixed and mastered in Cubase 5.
Here are the lyrics:
Out from the depths of the ocean
You bring a nightmare into motion
Black gold flows onto beaches
Turning into finger-like leeches
Crawling on the fish and the birds
Bleeding black into the earth
Oozing in the pipes of a dying breed
Let’s make way for a new energy
The sun’s been shining for eternity
Are we so blind that we can’t see
The endless power for us to use
With photovoltaic you cannot lose
Wind blows over the land and sea
Capture that power, you know it’s free
The motion of the ocean will never stop
The waves and tides rise and drop
Turbines take that energy
Converting it to electricity
Biofuels can run our cars
Better yet, are electric cars
Let’s go forward and make a mark
No more stalling, let’s make a start
